Peter Layer began his career in Cambridge in 1974 with a long-established local firm of chartered surveyors before forming Layer Associates in 1990. Now, with over 35 years experience of the local market, his expertise is acknowledged by the President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors from whom he receives appointments to act as arbitrator or independent expert in valuation disputes.

Jonathan Lager was brought up in Cambridge, but worked in London and its environs for both commercial surveying practices and property development companies. He became a director of the property development division of a multinational company prior to returning to general practice in Cambridge in 1989, where he ran the Cambridge office for a major regional practice, before joining Peter Layer in 1997.

Mark Robinson has always worked in commercial property in Cambridge, having started his surveying career in 1978 as a trainee surveyor with the University of Cambridge’s Estates Department, before moving into private practice in 1982, when he joined Gray Cook and Partners. He then went on to work for a number of Cambridge firms before founding Sumpster Robinson Associates in 1992, which subsequently merged with a major regional practice in 1997. He founded Robinson Property Consultants in 2002, dealing with all aspects of commercial property practice whilst building up a strong and loyal client base, before merging his practice with Layer Associates in April 2011.
