DREAM STUDIO FOR CERAMICS ARTIST

Publish Date: June 01, 2019

The long leasehold of a retail unit at Rookery Place in Fenstanton has been sold by Robinson Layer to a ceramics artist for £105,000, to create what she describes as her ‘dream studio’.  The lease has more than 120 years remaining.

It has been acquired by Paula Armstrong Ceramics which provides a varied programme of clay related products and activities.  Paula said: “I make and sell my own sculptural ceramic work, teach regular classes and workshops, work with schools and community groups doing workshops and tile murals.  I also make commissions, provide corporate team building workshops and do crafty parties for all ages and occasions, all in a well-equipped, friendly, informal studio setting.

“I've bought the leasehold to build a studio exactly as I would like it to be for me and my teaching. As an established business I was looking for somewhere close to my current location that I could make into my dream studio.”

She is moving from rented space in Willingham and will launch the new studio with an exhibition of students' work in the weekend of 14th and 15th September.
